  • Maker After Dark

    Our popular all-ages Maker series is getting a grown-up twist! Make your own custom chalkboard cheese tray, then sample delicious cheeses. After your project is complete, head out to the Library Lawn for a concert with the Third Sunday String Band. Registration required.

    Join us on the Library Lawn for a fun-filled Friday evening concert. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the music of the Third Sunday String Band, a group of dynamic Chicago musicians dedicated to the preservation of traditional American music.

    Multi-Audie Award Winner Johnny Heller presents "The Johnny Heller Audiobook Experience", a humorous performance/lecture on the making of an audiobook and a lively Q & A. Johnny is a highly regarded commercial voice over and audio narration coach and teacher who has narrated more than 600 audiobooks for all ages.
  • Cookbook Book Club: Modern Potluck

    In our first cookbook book club, we’ll be whipping up recipes from Modern Potluck, where library patrons are invited to pick a recipe from the book, make or bake and bring it in to share! Registration is required and space is limited; open to adults and teens. Call the Library to register.

    Attendees: when you decide on a dish please call Jill M. at the Library, otherwise you will be contacted a week prior to the event. Please pick two in the event that you dish is already taken.

    Please note that because recipes are not made in a commercial kitchen that we cannot guarantee allergy-free dishes.

The NASA live stream of the event will be running on our big screen in the Auditorium. A limited supply of approved glasses for viewing the solar eclipse will be available. Materials for making a pinhole viewer will be available.

    Astronomy and live classical music comes together to entertain and educate. While a musical ensemble performs live, scientific videos are projected on-stage in an exciting fusion of sound and imagery. The images and animations are developed from a variety of sources including Worldwide Telescope and NASA imagery. Cosmos in Concert was developed by astronomer and musician, Kyle Kremer.
