Special NeedsSensory-Friendly Events for Kids with Special Needs

We welcome all children who meet program guidelines to our events. However, we understand that some kids have special needs that make attending certain programs challenging.

Listed below are sensory-friendly movie screenings and encounters with outside performers. Also listed are programs that, while not designed specifically for kids with special needs, may have particular appeal.

Sensory-Friendly Events

  • The Frog Lady Presents Reptiles and Amphibians: Sensory-Friendly Performance

    When: Saturday, January 03, 2015 - 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    Learn the differences and similarities between reptiles and amphibians, and meet over 20 live animals. You can stay after to get your picture taken with them, so be sure to bring your camera. This sensory-friendly performance is intended for children with special needs, ages 3-18, and their families. Registration starts December 20 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, December 27 for nonresidents.

  • African Explosion: Sensory-Friendly Performance

    When: Saturday, January 31, 2015 - 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    Kick-start African-American History Month with this explosive demonstration of drumming, dance, and acrobatics. This sensory-friendly performance is intended for children ages 3-18 with special needs and their families. Sign-up starts 1/17 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, and 1/24 for nonresidents.
