STEMScience, Technology, Engineering & Math

While the Wilmette Public Library loves literature and language, we also recognize the importance of technological literacy. We offer many programs for children that build scientific knowledge and problem-solving skills, from simple chemistry experiments and animal visits to computer programming and Lego robotics.

  • Youth Chess Drop-In
    When: Sunday, December 11, 2016 - 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Want to play chess with other kids who love the game? Drop by for informal, fun competition supervised by parent volunteers. Bring chess sets and pieces, if possible. All levels of players are welcome, but prior knowledge of the pieces and how they move is helpful. Space is limited to the first 24 players to arrive.
  • Stop-Motion Animation
    When: Monday, December 19, 2016 - 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Make your own movie with the guidance of a professional filmmaker! You'll learn basic stop-motion animation using clay. Grades 5-8. Sign-up starts December 5 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, December 12 for nonresidents.
