While the Wilmette Public Library loves literature and language, we also recognize the importance of technological literacy. We offer many programs for children that build scientific knowledge and problem-solving skills, from simple chemistry experiments and animal visits to computer programming and Lego robotics.

Upcoming STEM Events

  • Light Painting

    When: Thursday, July 24, 2014 - 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
    Where: Auditorium

    Use iPads to capture amazing designs made with lights in the dark! Grades 5-9. Registration starts July 10 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents and July 17 for nonresidents.

  • Rangers in Training: Mammals

    When: Friday, July 25, 2014 - 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Drop in any time between 3:30 and 5:00 to learn about Illinois mammals through their pelts, skulls, tracks--even their scat! (Hint: that's ranger talk for poop.) Make a simple craft to take home. All ages.

  • Stop-Motion Animation

    When: Thursday, July 31, 2014 - 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Make your own animated movie! Participants will create a story, photograph it, and then computer-animate it. Please bring a flash drive. Grades 6-9. Registration starts July 17 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents and July 24 for nonresidents.
