tweensThe Wilmette Public Library offers programs for kids in grades 5–8. The Kids’ Library Council meets regularly to do art, technology, and book-related activities and also to plan events and spaces for the Library. We also offer technology programs and occasional special interest activities.

  • Write - For the Win!
    When: Monday, July 25, 2016 - 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Stretch your imaginative muscles as you create stories, poems, comics, and more for this year's Youth Literary Magazine. Kids must attend at least two meetings. Grades 4-9. Registration starts June 27 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, July 3 for nonresidents.
  • Kids' Library Council
    When: Monday, July 25, 2016 - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Calling all Harry Potter fans! Brainstorm all things Hogwarts as we get ready for the Library's interactive showing of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Snacks will be served. Grades 5-9. Registration starts July 11 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, July 18 for nonresidents.
  • Water Bottle Design
    When: Thursday, July 28, 2016 - 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Make a water bottle awesome! Use design software and our vinyl cutter to create decorations for a water bottle. We'll supply the water bottles, you supply the good ideas! Grades 5–9. Registration starts July 14 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, July 21 for nonresidents.

  • Interactive Movie
    When: Monday, August 01, 2016 - 6:00 PM - 8:45 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    Celebrate Harry Potter's birthday by cheering, booing, and casting spells along with the first movie of the series. Costumes encouraged! Wizarding-themed snacks will be served. Grades 5–9. Rated PG.
