tweensThe Wilmette Public Library offers programs for kids in grades 5–8. The Kids’ Library Council meets regularly to do art, technology, and book-related activities and also to plan events and spaces for the Library. We also offer technology programs and occasional special interest activities.

  • Tangled Snowflakes

    When: Tuesday, December 23, 2014 - 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    Learn the basics of tangling, a popular form of doodling that's fun and relaxing, then design your own unique tangled snowflakes. Led by artist Christine Thornton. Grades 5-8. Registration starts December 9 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, December 16 for nonresidents.

  • Kids' Library Council

    When: Monday, January 12, 2015 - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Make snow, plus help plan library spaces and programs for kids in grades 5-8. Dress for mess! Snacks will be served. Grades 5-8. Sign-up starts 12/29 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, and 1/5 for nonresidents.

  • Babysitting Basics

    When: Sunday, January 25, 2015 - 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Do you want to get started as a babysitter? Come learn the ABC's of caring for and entertaining young children, as well as some tips on marketing yourself and ensuring your own safety. For grades 5-8. Sign-up starts 1/11 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, and 1/18 for nonresidents.

  • Light Painting

    When: Saturday, January 31, 2015 - 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    Brighten up the dark winter season! Use iPads to capture amazing designs made with lights in the dark. Grades 5-8. Sign-up starts 1/17 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, and 1/24 for nonresidents.

  • Kids' Library Council

    Make and celebrate chocolate treats, plus help plan library spaces and programs for kids in grades 5-8. Dress for mess! Snacks will be served. Grades 5-8. Sign-up starts 1/26 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, and 2/2 for nonresidents.
