tweensThe Wilmette Public Library offers programs for kids in grades 5–8. The Kids’ Library Council meets regularly to do art, technology, and book-related activities and also to plan events and spaces for the Library. We also offer technology programs and occasional special interest activities.

  • Kids' Library Council
    When: Monday, June 19, 2017 - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Can't stop singing along to Moana? Come make plans for our interactive showing of Moana, which will be held on Thursday, July 27. Also, help plan library spaces and programs for kids in grades 5-8. Snacks will be served. Grades 5-9. Sign-up starts June 5 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, June 12 for nonresidents.
  • Andertoons Cartooning: Creative Cartooning
    When: Thursday, June 29, 2017 - 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    Make your own cartoons with expressive faces, bodies in motion, and more! Grades 4-8. Registration starts June 15 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents and June 22 for nonresidents.
  • Club Hogwarts: House Colors Day
    When: Monday, July 17, 2017 - 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM

    Make friends and enjoy magical activities and snacks inspired by the world of Harry Potter. Accio fun! Today, get sorted and tie dye a shirt in your Hogwarts house colors. Shirts provided. Grades 5-8. Registration starts July 3 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, July 10 for nonresidents.
  • Young Makers: Afternoon at the Spa
    When: Thursday, July 20, 2017 - 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    Get as much relaxation out of your summer as possible! Keep your body and mind healthy, happy, and calm at our spa night. Make bath bombs, aromatherapy sachets, lip balm, and more. Grades 5-9. Registration starts July 6 for Wilmette & Kenilworth, July 13 for nonresidents.

  • Tech Playground (Gr. 5-9)
    When: Tuesday, August 01, 2017 - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Experiment with the library's tech tools such as Scratch, stop-motion animation, robots, and more. Parents are welcome to attend and tinker along. Grades 5-9. Registration starts July 18 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, July 25 for nonresidents.
  • Club Hogwarts: Green Screen Magic
    When: Monday, August 07, 2017 - 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM

    Make friends and enjoy magical activities and snacks inspired by the world of Harry Potter. Accio fun! Today, don your robes for some photographic fun. Costumes encouraged. Grades 5-8. Registration starts July 24 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, July 31 for nonresidents.
  • Scratch with Digital Adventures
    When: Thursday, August 17, 2017 - 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Design a game similar to dodgeball using this digital media design program. Staff from Wilmette's Digital Adventures, which offers coding classes and technology camps for kids, will lead the class. Grades 5-8. Registration starts August 3 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, August 10 for nonresidents.
  • Kids' Library Council: Suburban Camping Party
    When: Monday, August 28, 2017 - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Go camping without leaving Wilmette! We'll say goodbye to summer with crafts and activities best done in the great outdoors and eat pizza under the stars. No tent required. Note: this program will take place at the Gazebo at Mallinckrodt Park, 1960 Elmwood Ave. Grades 5-9. Sign-up starts August 14 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, August 21 for nonresidents.
