Book Cover The Corn Grows Ripe
Dorothy Rhoads

I thought this book was much too for any 6th grade level. The story line was pretty good, but there were a few chapters that were unnecessary and off-topic. I did like the lesson learned by the main character and the author wrote a good parable, to explain it.

Book Cover The Aviary
Kathleen O'Dell

I enjoyed this book very much. It would be very difficult to understand if I didn't have a dictionary. I wouldn't recommend this to a 6th grader or any lower age. I really enjoyed the story line and the characters. The author did a good job adding the right amount mystery and suspense. If I could say anything bad about it, it would be some chapters were slow and hard to follow. This is not a humorous book, but if you like mysteries, birds, or fiction this is the book for you.

Book Cover Heartless
Sara Shepard

The media has some how turned against Emily, Aria, Hanna, and Spencer. This A seems to know more than they do. And where is Ali? The seventh pretty little liars book seems to be the scariest yet.

Book Cover Breaking Stalin's Nose
Eugene Yelchin

Sasha Zaichick has always wanted to be a young pioneer for the Soviet Union. Comrade Stalin the great leader of Moscow is Sasha's hero. But after Sasha's dad (a great communist) gets arrested Sasha has some second thoughts about being a pioneer. During the school year near the statue of Stalin Sasha accidentally breaks the plaster nose off of the statue. Each class in the school had to write on a piece of paper who broke the nose. This was a great book because I loved how brave Sasha was after doing the things that he did in the book.
